Re: New Toy 54 R100-update

I received the VW antenna and it is really larger than mine. I'll do some more research for another antenna, as well as just for the pole mask. The IHC antenna screws in its base and I measured the screw portion to be 10-32.
Does anyone by chance have an extra cab mount antenna, that mounts on the A pillar, between the windshield and drip rail, on the passenger side, (see some photos on this thread) that you're willing to part with?

I did make a few shallow inquiries about the R that was my truck for many years. The "R" should be OK because of the dry climate, where it is. My hope is that it does not become a target. There is a possibility that I could get the "R" back. I would insist on having a dry place to keep it here in heavy rain country.

Nikki, I hope you are able to get it back and be successful in getting the dry location that you want. I feel you've had serious withdrawals with it being gone, even if you know its whereabouts.

Re: New Toy 54 R100-update

I went to take the truck out for a drive a couple of weeks ago and didn't get out of the driveway, as I had no brakes. I pushed it back under the carport and started to troubleshoot the problem. Checked the master cylinder and it was dry. Refilled it and still no pedal at all. There was no fluid on the ground anywhere.
I pulled the driver side tire and drum, and lo and behold, the wheel cylinder had blown.

Was able to order them from Napa. However, I don't recommend their shipping to the house, if you can. It took 8 days to get them. The local store is less than 4 miles.

Got them in and installed, to include the brake hardware. You can get a kit that has both front and rear hardware.

The only problem I have is with the brake shoe hold down pin. It's a bit to long and causes the spring and cup to stand out too much and dig into the drum or come off inside. All of the other springs and adjustment stuff works fine. The rears don't rub, just the front.
I got numbers and stuff off this forum a while back. However, many of those links no longer work and the numbers are not found. These items I present now is what I found at this time.

Here's a comparison that shows the hold down pin is just a hair too long.

Perhaps a couple of washers on the backside of the backing plate to effectively shorten the length of the pin?

For the front of my R100, I used: Holddown Pins – #H1107, Holddown Cups – #H1132, Holddown Springs – #H1157

Paul, thanks for the numbers info. I looked them up, especially on the hold down pins. The number H1107 (Hold down pin), has the exact same measurement as the pins I have. I know you said they're what you use on your R100, and I don't know what the difference might be. I put them on my R100 and they rubbed inside the drum badly.
The H1107 and the ones I have measure 2-7/32". The originals measure 2-1/16". The springs and cups are workable.

Mac, thank you for your input. I was in the Poconos back in the 80s, at Toby Hana Army Depot. Long before I got these Internationals.

Yikes. Remembered I swapped the 100 axle for a 110 front axle. So I gave you bad numbers. Check on H1150 for springs and H1105 for the hold down pins.

Small world ! My wife recently retired from Tobyhanna . She was just getting started there in the mid 80's. Brakes look good with the new hardware. I'm sure you'll get the pin issue figured out.
