Fusible link temp sending unit

I am trying to get this 50' L110 running. P.O. tried to start it with 12v battery. The fusible link ( I believe it to be ), has severed from the wire gong to temp sending unit. Where can I get a replacement or how do I repair this ? I just want to hear this thing run.

Re: Fusible link temp sending unit

There is no fusible link on an L series. I would doubt that the starting attempt caused a failure of the sending unit, but the gauges may have been affected. For getting it started, I'd pick up a cheap mechanical temperature gauge and install it. It'll give you a better idea of the actual engine temperature. Replace it later, after you know how hot it really runs. Then you'll know how hot it is when the needle is between "Hot" and "Cold".

So what do you call the small cylindrical device inline to the sending unit ? A diode perhaps ? These are on both of my 50' L series trucks.

Sending unit would not affect starting in any way. Are the trucks 6v or 12v now?

It is original 6 volt, I realize temp sender has no effect on starting, I still want to fix the broken wire, just wander if it is just a connector or something else.

Guessing this is what you're looking at. Old style bullet connector.

That's it ! Mystery solved ! Thank you ! The wire is broke off at connector, so it looked like something else at least to me ! The learning curve at work yet again.
