The Ford Explorer 8.8 axles are very easy to find and the prices are often less than a few hundred $. The 8.8 is available with drum or disc brakes.
Try to remember, the 8.8 is not a 3/4 ton axle. It has been my experience, with Old IHC trucks, the frames were loose and often damaged because the frames were too light. The first good frame came under an R130.
I bought a 1953, R150 with a 246.5 inches (6.261 meters) frame for a special IHC project. The frame I bought never left the orchard and was always shed stored. I paid $1000 for the frame (delivered) and another $500 for rust free standard 2 door cab.
