Early Jeeps used the tapered axle Dana 44. You would have to check with them as far as the dimension, but might try:

Here is one online source for individual slotted nuts. https://www.stevenstractor.com/home/cat ... lotted+nut

If you are near a tractor or maybe even construction equipment dealer you may be able to find them without shipping cost.

Thank you much. They didn't give specs on some things, like washers and axle keys, but the prices are reasonable enough I can buy and try. I did purchase a good amount from them.

But, on the outside chance that there is a Fastenal store within reasonable driving distance to you, I’ve had success with getting onesy and twosy fasteners through the store. Yes, they had to order them from one of their warehouses, and they were not especially cheap, but they produced what I needed.

Another possible source is an old well established, family run hardware store that’s been in business a long time. It’s often amazing what these stores acquire in inventory as the years roll by.

Thank you input. I'm not aware of there being such a store here. I'm well familiar with them for sure. There use to be a hardware store here like that, but they're no longer in business.

I do have a Fastenal near me. I went to the store and they no longer allow in store shopping, it's a Will Call only. I also looked online, they indicated the slotted nuts, but the one for the front is 3/4-16 NF and they only show coarse thread.

Re: R-100 rear brake hub

The R100 rear brakes are done. Yahoo!!

Thanks for all of the inputs and information in getting drum brakes and hardware to fit my R100.

Some updated information on the parts I used. From Rock auto; Rear brake shoes #1755B: Wheel cylinder Raybestos #WC9025/WC9026. From Morris 4X4 Center (Jeep): Rear Axle Hub Key Dana 44 With Tapered Axles Item# 636374; Rear Axle Shaft Washer Item# 640945; Axle Shaft Nut for Dana 44 Tapered Rear Axles Item# 636344. From Shafer's Classic Reproductions (SCR): 1951 - 1958 Chevrolet Full Size Rear Brake Hardware #BHKF01.

I got a Rear Brake Hardware Kit from NAPA Auto Parts, but the only thing I used out of it was the return springs. Everything else was used from the GM Hardware Kit.

Watch for my new post on front brakes on this R100. I have questions on the brake hose hardware (Driver side).

Paul, thanks for the link and info about Jeep and the axle. I purchased a couple of the slotted nuts and tried to install them. They have the same thread count (14) as my spindle, but in trying to get them on, it's like it was trying to recut the slotted nuts. I continued to search and ran across an unsuspecting set. This was at Amazon and the price was not bad, considering it included everything for the axle and best of all, they went on so much better. Trailer Nut Set w/ 1" Washers & Cotter Pins fits for 1" Spindle high strength. Thread count is also 14.
So I'm providing this info in case someone else with need the rear axle nuts on their 55 International.
