The key will either stay in the groove on the axle shaft or come off with the drum and be in the slot on the hub. Either way is no big deal. Probably the least of your worries at this point. Good luck.

You're correct on being the least of my worries. The right rear hub popped right off and looking at it, there's work to be done. Now to try and find brake cylinders, shoes and springs. The left rear hub is still on, but under tension. I hope it pops lose overnight. I remember a few years back there was a thread on this site that gave numbers for brake shoes and parts, that cross-referenced from 50-55 IHC to Raybestos, Wagner and more. I don't have that info, but looking hard.

Re: R-100 rear brake hub

Please double-check these, but I believe they are correct for the R-100. Most places like RockAuto will list shoes and drums that are 12", which would be correct for the 110 series, but the 100's used a Dana 44 with 11" brakes.

Shoes – Raybestos #55RR
Brake Drum – NAPA # ND 4401140, Raybestos 2311 (Re-drilled to 5 on 4.5)
Left Cylinder – #WC9025
Right Cylinder – #WC9026
Brake Hose – #BH24458
Return Springs – #H111
Holddown Cups - #H1132
Holddown Springs – #H1150
Holddown Pins – #H1105

The number for the shoes did not come back as such.
The number for the brake drum came back for a 1954 R100 (#2316)
The number for the Brake Hose also came back for a 1954 R100.
The numbers for the springs, cups and pins, did not find individually anywhere. Even at Rockauto, they're sold in a package per axle, with no picture or other identifying information.
This is the only info for drum brake hardware at Rockauto:
DYNAMIC FRICTION 37054061 Info
FitsRear; 15" x 5" Brakes; From 9/54
orRear; 16" x 5" Brakes; From 9/54

The wheel cylinders are good numbers, from a number of places.

I finally got the stuck left rear hub off. It didn't take me til now and I didn't need to put it to the torch. It came off the next day with a few good blows to the puller handle.

Re: R-100 rear brake hub

Thanks for the links. While surfing I ran across NAPA Online and they have brake hardware kits for the rear R100 and they show other hardware that's not in the kit, such as the adjusting nut.

Question about the drums. Do you think I should have them turned, if they've still got enough meat to be turned?

My drums do measurer 11". The shoes look like they're 1-3/4". Although I've not found any numbers matching up to the 55 R100, most have talked about being at least 2". I measured while still on the truck. I'll remove them and remeasure.

Re: R-100 rear brake hub

If you're drums can be turned it will save a lot of searching and work.

According to RockAuto, which I don't use for a parts book, AC Delco 17228B is supposedly a good number for 11" brake shoes. https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.ph ... 88&jsn=845

Your numbers for Brake Drum comes up to a front drum. This is the NAPA number. I'll be going by NAPA this weekend.

I went by NAPA on Friday and the only thing they had was the rear brake hardware in the store. I haven't gotten the rears done yet, but it's moving along. I have found a lot for the rear, however I have not found any hardware for the front brakes.
Do you have any good numbers for front brake hardware or a suitable sub from another vehicle?

Re: R-100 rear brake hub

Does anyone have extra rear spindle/castle/slotted nuts and washers for the rear of this R-100?
I've gone thru a number of locations, online and in person. Such as all major auto parts chains and other locations like Grainger.
The front axle nut(3/4-16 NF) and washer can be obtained, but must be purchased in minimum quantities of 10 to 25, which is very costly. The rear nut (1"-12 NF) has been seen online at an even more costly amount than the fronts. Most online industries I've looked at require quantity purchases.

I can’t tell from your entry if Fastenal is one of the sites you’ve checked. If so, then perhaps this info may be useless to you. But, on the outside chance that there is a Fastenal store within reasonable driving distance to you, I’ve had success with getting onesy and twosy fasteners through the store. Yes, they had to order them from one of their warehouses, and they were not especially cheap, but they produced what I needed.

Another possible source is an old well established, family run hardware store that’s been in business a long time. It’s often amazing what these stores acquire in inventory as the years roll by.
