Handy steering wheel

I have an odd request. What do you guys use, if anything, to keep the steering wheel material from coming off in your hands? After driving a while, my hands get pretty black from the wheel. Been that way for years with no promise of just wearing off.

Re: Handy steering wheel

I bought a steering wheel cover to protect the wheel until after the final installation. I have seen JB weld and other filers used to fill the cracks. Several coats of Tremclad or Rustoleum will give a good finish on the steering wheel.

I've put leather covers on mine from Wheelskins.com. Much nicer than the plastic ones with vinyl wrap-around lacing.
