Fuel hard line size

Does anybody know what the original size the fuel hard line was on the BD240? From what I can measure of the small left over piece I took off my truck it had 5/16” line from the fuel pump to the carburetor. Those AN fittings for 5/16” are hard to find for a check valve and fuel filter, was thinking of going to 3/8”. I question if 3/8” hard line is too big?

My S was 5/16th, except for the draw tube in the tank which was 1/4". Changed that to 5/16th

Size maters in the bedroom, maybe, but not under the hood. Go for the 3/8". A good fuel line tip is to install an inline check valve ner the tank. This extra protection against fuel drain-back will save the starter from lots of extra engine cranking. 6

Re: Fuel hard line size

Thanks guys, I was planning on using a check valve. I don’t like a dry fuel pump when trying to start up. I originally bought 3/8” tubing and then measured the piece I took off years ago and found it to 5/16”. I think I’m going to stay with what I bought 3/8”. Seems easier to find (3/8”) -6 AN fittings than -5 AN fittings.

Well, fuel line is done except now waiting for the tank to come back from the repair shop. Having it cleaned and changing the pick up tube to a welded in 3/8” tube with a screw in port on top. Tank should be done this week.
