Radiator Shroud for Champion radiator

For those using the Champion radiators, what are you using for a shroud? I currently don't have a shroud and she running hot, doesn't seem the original shroud will fit - perhaps with shims down the sides. Champion offers shrouds for use with electric fans, not sure how that would work with 6 volts.

Thanks

I noticed when I got mine some time back, I relocated the slotted holes on the radiator, bolted rite in shroud at correct placement for fan.. Don't know if they do 6 volt some outfits do.

Re: Radiator Shroud for Champion radiator

I used the original shroud with a 1/2" spacer on the reinforcing bar that goes across the top with no other issues except for having to do some "finessing" on the radiator holes to make them fit the truck. I did however put a Ford 302 in my truck so I don't know how the fan placement would be for the 220 but I would think it would still line up. I got a shroud with a built in electric fan from a 2001 Impala from a friend and only had to make 4 small notches to fit the lip of the circle on original shroud and two 2" steel plates on the side to attach it and after a fresh coat of paint... it basically looks factory!

Wish I even had a shroud for my Champion radiator, truck never had one on the old radiator. You find one for sale and people think it's made out of gold.

KSever, I'm curious about the cost of the shrouds?

Re: Radiator Shroud for Champion radiator

Thanks to Paul, I now have an original radiator shroud. Made it fit today, still have to clean it up with the grinder and then coat it and paint it. Had to modify it just a little to fit the champion radiator but it was minimal work.

That shroud was for the "increased cooling" option, so the opening is a little wider. The increased cooling option had a little larger fan, part number 86897R91, if you can find one. If you google the number, you'll get a 6-blade fan for IH tractors. I don't know if that would work, but it looks like it might.

Found the fan it states it is 17” in diameter. Could probably use extra cooling in Arizona. Last year we had over 60 days straight with temps over 110 degrees. Set a new record, I’m so ready to be back in the Midwest
