Simple Question - R-110 Width from fender to fender

My first post of MANY! These forums have been an amazing source of information!

My 1953 R-110 has been sitting in my dad's shed for 25 years and next week I'm finally going to haul her from Edmonton to my garage in Calgary.

Problem is that I am in Calgary and my truck is in Edmonton and I have to rent a trailer. U-haul trailer I think is 75" max width.

I'm wondering if someone could do me a favor and measure the width from fender to fender at the front and tell me what the measurement is. As well what is the ground clearance of the front to see if it is in-fact a bit to wide - if the truck will still make it over the trailer wheel wells.

If it doesn't fit I'll have to find a different trailer.

Thanks!

Re: Simple Question - R-110 Width from fender to fender

Take a big relax. Your R110 will easily fit on the trailer. If this is a U-Haul rental trailer, do not tell them you are going to haul an International of any size. U-Haul do not have the information on IHC and will likely not rent to you.
Old IHC are about the same track width as the Fords, GM and Chevys of the way back time. Go with a 1953 Ford 100 pickup. Save yourself the grief.
I trailered one of my L110s home as a Ford F100, 1953, U-Haul would not rent a trailer to me for an IHC. I told them I made a mistake and the pickup was in fact a ford.

Excellent advice, I ran into that problem in the past.

Re: Simple Question - R-110 Width from fender to fender

According to the IH truck specifications, overall width front is 76 inches, rear is 68.5 inches. Road clearance front axle - 8 1/2 inches, rear - 8 inches. With 6.00 - 16 tires. I've hauled an L110 on a U-Haul car trailer and it has the same width but road clearance of 7 13/16 inches, so shouldn't be a problem. But don't tell U-Haul you're hauling an R110. Their books show a weight of over 4000 pounds for those, and they won't rent. I told them I was hauling a '50 Chevy half ton.

As long as it is not a 9' longbed it should fit. I put my S132, longbed dually on a uHaul trailer. I had to remove the outer wheels in the rear to get it to fit. It was a bit too long for the trailer, but I was only going to the next town (from dad's house to mine) it was about 55 miles per google. Half in the country, half on a highway. I made it without issues.

That's great information thanks!

I did notice that international was not listed. I told her it was the same as a 1997 Chev pickup. I'll remember to not say anything at u-haul when getting the trailer.

Thanks!

I rented one a year ago from u haul tof get my l120 inspected at chp. I told them it was a Chevy because they didn't have International in their computer. No problem. They never saw the truck or cared. They just wanted my 50.00

Re: Simple Question - R-110 Width from fender to fender

Thanks everyone for your help. I went with renting a trailer in calgary rather than the U-haul one because I was still worried about getting it onto the trailer itself. So I rented one for $75 CAD with a 9000lb winch and it was so simple loading it. Took us an hour and done.

What is that blue thing hanging under the back of the truck? I think that was a very reasonable rental price.
