Exhaust routing

I’ve already ran the new exhaust on the 56 S but after looking at the frame does anyone know if this hole in the frame cross member was for the exhaust?

Re: Exhaust routing

The parts book shows an angle bracket and hanger for the rear section. I cannot see this going through the frame.

Re: Exhaust routing

What got me thinking it might be for the exhaust is that the hole is on the exhaust side of the frame. Can’t think of anything else that hole would be used for. Not even sure what size the original exhaust pipe is but the size I ran would go through there

Re: Exhaust routing

My R120 had a 3 inch exhaust. Other IHC trucks that passed this way were often 2 inch. Those 220sd sound really good with a Flow Master.
If you are able, turn the tailpipe towards the right so the gasses do not collect behind the truck.

Re: Exhaust routing

I put a Thrush muffler on my 53 r110. But I was 17 at the time.
