Hello fellow IHC enthusiasts! Hopefully everyone is staying healthy in these times.
Can anyone show me how the radiator supports itself from the top? Mine has 2 long ass threaded rods from the shocks bracket to the radiator support but im sure that's not how it's supposed to be. It is the sd220. Here's some pics...
Thanks in advanced!

This does not show in the parts catalogue. If it works and looks as good as it does, in the picture, do not fret about it.. Move on. You will have bigger troubles to deal with.
Your radiator mounting bracket may have the side tab missing. This was used to tie the fender to the radiator bracket. This helped to stabilize the fenders on rough roads.

These rods work but are blocking some good space where I want to mount the battery. Currently the battery is mounted behind the shock bracket way to close to the exhaust manifold. Thats why I want to get rid of them.

No rods for either of the two I've owned. In fact the radiator is so stable I was able to drive the truck around the yard with the front end clip off with just the hoses to steady the top. The front end sheet metal should be more than enough support if it is intact.

If you google Restoring Cornelius you will come across a fellow enthusiast's web site. He has a pdf copy of a M97 parts guide. Page 448 shows the radiator. It does not have the threaded rods that your truck does. I don't recall any of mine having any either. I wonder why it was added?

I don't know when they did away with them, but the L's used the stay rods for at least part of the run. From MT-67:

The bottom of the radiator frame bolts to the frame of the truck with two bolts so there is plenty of support there. Then the flange on each side of the radiator mounts to that frame with 3 bolts each side The radiator frame then bolts to the inner fenders with an L bracket on each side.

Here’s how I did mine. Made a small L bracket mounted to the front clip using the 2 holes just forward of the prop rod, and made a sort of triangular shaped bracket that mounted off 2 holes on the radiator/shroud connection. Then bolted the two brackets together with a piece of rubber in between. Seems to work pretty well.
