power assisted front disc brakes

We have discussed this before and I have taken into consideration the valid warnings posted here....This is how I have proceeded on my truck( '52 L112), I have used the TSM front disc kit, which installed without a hitch using the existing front hubs. And for the master cylinder and booster have gone with Master Power Brakes dual master cylinder and will be using their remote booster mounted on the fender well. They both company's have been outstanding with their customer support. I have fabricated a mount for the MPB M/C using the original brake m/c mount and will extend the brake push rod about 2". Having a three on the tree transmission there isn't a lot of room in the area where the booster would normally be....Still working on all of the brake, shifter, booster and accelerator linkages....not sure why the photos are upside down....open them and they are correct.

Kevin, Here is the link....I'm still saving my penny's to purchase it.

https://mpbrakes.com/pc_product_detail. ... 91940E1C58

They make a single and a dual( depending how much $ you have), every truck I've owned up to now had drum rear brakes. Trevor at MPB has been quite helpful and has a lot of experience. He said from his previous experience, don't mess with the pedal ratio until you have tried it using the IHC's 6:1, he has had several customers leave it that way....

That's interesting, I never seen one like that, keep you post going as you go along. Thank You.
My son who bought my truck is going with a Hydro-boost unit that runs off the P/S pump, I know the scout guys use them, and another guy here posted a Bendix Hydro unit similar to the old Astro vans, in the L_R_S.
I like that yours is remote like the old ones.

Re: power assisted front disc brakes

I installed a BOSCH hydro-boost in my Ford. I got it from a recycler of Ford Mustang cars. The L110 we were working on got a Bendix hydro booster for a disc/drum system..
On the L110, there is enough room to mount the Bendix system where the OEM master cylinder was mounted.
The hydraulic hoses from the Saginaw pump to the Bendix and then to the Saginaw power steering are all about 12 to 18 inches.
My friend mounted his remote booster on the frame rail, under the cab.
A warning or inspiration. The AEROQUIP hose and fittings were 80% of the cost of the system. This does not include some special installation tools. If I were to do this again . . . . . . . . .

That "remote" booster is a version of the Hydrovac that medium trucks have been using for years. It is a good system. I had a small one on my Fiat Cabro, that had same disks that the E type Jag had.
I own 3 Hydrovac's and can't say I've had a problem with any of them.

Re: power assisted front disc brakes

That booster looks like an updated version of the power brake booster that was optional on S series trucks, early Scouts and maybe others. Of course that system had only a single circuit.

This is unique, I have never seen a booster used on only half of a brake system.
