L-110 Emblem Color DIY

If any of you were like me and really wanted one of those colored triple diamond emblems instead of your plain old translucent one then this may help you. I looked into several different options to obtain a colored emblem but all were complicated and expensive. Finally, I thought, why not just paint my translucent emblem. That's exactly what I did.

You will need:
- Red, White, and Blue paint.(It's easier if you have paint markers like what I used).
-An exacto knife or any small, precise knife
-Aluminum Foil
-Super Glue

Step 1: Clean the Emblem
- the first thing I did to my translucent plastic emblem is cleaned it really good. I also tried to buff out any scratches with paper towel and fast orange soap. I also used Gojo. Most of the "scratches", however, turned out to be cracks on the inside of the emblem (not much you can do about that).

Step 2: Paint
- Turn the emblem to the backside and begin painting the colors onto the shapes. I used paint markers which made it very easy. Don't paint the emblem border or the diamond borders (explanation in next step).

Step 3: Aluminum Foil
-Finally, trace the emblem on aluminum foil with an exacto knife and glue the piece of aluminum foil on the back of the emblem. Make sure the shiny side is facing the front of the emblem. This creates that metallic look that borders the diamonds and the outside edges of the emblem.
I hope this helps someone! I am very happy with the way mine turned out!

Re: L-110 Emblem Color DIY

Thank you! Just out of curiosity, does anyone know why IH made some of the triple diamond emblems for the L series colored and some of them translucent?

I believe they were all originally colored, time/age/weather made the inside paint fade/fall off.
