Update: The Farmall 706 pushrods are longer, no dice! I guess I'm not that surprised since the C263 is much later tilt valve cylinder head design. Here's a photo showing the BD240 pushrod next to the C263 pushrod. The C263 Farmall 706 pushrod/adjuster is above and the BD240 is below for comparison :

Worn out BD240 pushrod/adjuster on #4 exhaust rocker:
Closeup of worn BD240 adjuster. The cup end of my original pushrod has definitely worn into the bad rocker adjuster. No way I would swap a good adjuster onto a bad pushrod, so now I'm looking for a straight valve BD240 pushrod:

I also reset all the valves to lash at 0.019" warm. There's considerable less clatter at idle although mechanical valvetrain always has some noise. I have a video of starting and idling with no rocker cover, but it needs to be edited a bit. Maybe I'll post a Youtube link if I get it uploaded.
