hydroboost brake booster

Has anyone installed a hydroboost power brake booster on a R-series using the original pedal setup? I am "resto=moding" an R-110 with a Mustang V-8 and a modern drive-line. I want to keep the original clutch and brake pedals if possible. A hydroboost seems to be the way to go but I could use some advise om how to mount the booster and master cylinder.

Re: hydroboost brake booster

Have a look at the last page of my build thread in the “lrs build-off” section. I put a hydroboost in my r-122.

You aren’t that far away, you’re welcome to see it in person if you like sometime.

Re: hydroboost brake booster

I have installed a BENDIX hydro-boost in our L110 Shorty. There is a build thread for this on this forum. I will check to see if there are any pictures and if not, I will post the pictures today.

Re: hydroboost brake booster

Here are a few pictures with more details on how I modified the OEM brake pedal mount/pivot. I turned out a DELRIN bushing for the pedal to pivot on my Myford Super7.
I cut off the extra length of the pedal mount/pivot, not used in the conversion.
The Bendix booster fit nicely, placing it close to the power steering pump.
The Ford brake switch can be easily fitted.
I have been away from this build for a few years. I really want to get back to the L110. I need to get my 1940 Ford out of the way.

Re: hydroboost brake booster

I installed a hydrovac booster from a ferd 1 ton into my L-112 panel,

frame mounted half way back, ran a line from master to it and back again to the junction at left front wheel,

and vacuum line from intake.

pros, easy enough to do,

cons, still had single reservoir braking,

you can buy a compact drum drum dual master power brake set up from speedway motors or other vendor, these can be mounted to utilize your existing pedals,

I would suggest looking at the modified L,R,S section above for ideas.
