NOW FOR SOMETING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT (that works)
You should be able to find a Mercedes recycler near you. Give some thought to using a Mercedes Diesel 300 Turbo and transmission package. The engine fits and works really well. A local guy is powering his IH with the 300td.
I had a 300 NA here because it was free. I gave it away. the 300 td or non turbo will perform better that the original lazy iron lump. Diesel gives you and your truck street cred. The 240 Diesel is not enough power. There was a 240 turbo but it had problems.
The 4 cylinder 240 vibrates. The 5 cylinder 300 engine has over lap and is smooth running. My wife drove a Mercedes with a 240 Diesel. We sold the car when it has 1.2 million kilometers.

I've always liked the mercedes 300 turbo 5cyl. I've read they are a ****** to get setup properly on a manual transmission though! I know they will go many miles. it's a good option but may stick with the parts I've got for now. We'll see. I'm just glad I found the fram stuff I wanted, as I do not want to deal with a frame swap again.

Indeed. I love the simplicity of working on these trucks, definitely looking forward to working on it after last summer fighting with my 72 Centurion wiring. :t3724:
