Muffler for L-110?

Has anyone replaced their muffler on their l-110? If so could you send me a parts link or suggest what muffler to buy for my l-110?

I think this is close to the original size. The picture is of an oval, but it's a round muffler.

I know you are overcomplicating this muffler thing. Just go and buy a muffler at a muffler shop. It might be a good idea to have it installed by the shop, this way you might get a warrantee. I got 200,000 miles from my muffler shop muffler.
If you have the tail-pipe section made up and installed, do not have it exit behind the tailgate. This is a low pressure area when the truck is underway and the exhaust will gather and follow the truck. When the truck stops, the exhaust smell will waft over the truck.
Exit oput ahead or behind the rear wheel is a better idea.

Thank you! The way the exhaust system is setup on the truck currently is the exhaust fumes are routed through the muffler and are expelled out under the right side running board towards the front of the bed, however, a piece of the metal pipe is missing so the outlet end of the muffler is not attached to a pipe.

Waldron's Exhaust is located in Centreville MI, which is 90 miles north of you has exhaust parts/system for your truck. I brought complete system from them for our L, off the manifold to tailpipe. The website isn't the most accurate on years of IH, but does show what the muffler looks like for the truck. Good luck.

Very good advice from Nikki.Side dumps, placed correctly, in my opinion look cooler than rear exhaust and don't dirty up anything, including a rear bumper , if you have one. Also agree , go to specialty shop and let them do the bending/hanger work. I work with one in my area and they are excellent and reasonable. Bonus:the guy I go to loves IHC!- Stickman 207

IIRC My Dad's '73 had side exhaust behind the rear wheel. Most medium and heavy gas engine trucks use spouts on the outlet of the muffler, dumping it under the truck.

Re: Muffler for L-110?

In this province, a domestic registered vehicle must have the exhaust exit the vehicle behind the centerline of the rear axle. When I mufflered my R120, the muffler shop followed the local rules so I could pass an inspection.
I asked that the tailpipe be on the left side, so I could hear it. When I took the truck back for a new muffler after 20 years, the same shop changed the system to dual exhaust. Suddenly the truck sounded like crap.

Re: Muffler for L-110?

Around here it had to exit behind the passenger compartment, which ment for buses all the way to the rear bumper, but trucks just behind the cab. Most ran 1/2 way down the truck body before it "dumped". Was more a space consideration than anything, single or duals had to snake passed the transmission before there was enough room for the muffler.
There is a local farmer still running a C60 Chevy with 366, dual's under the bed with spouts. Can hear him a long way off, when he pulls off the gravel to the pavement.
