Dad liked to. He got to ride in it because he was too emotional to drive. Dad would have been 100 this year. I learned all about survival from Dad. He used to say, "If you see your mother coming, run."

Re: Flywheel Questions

I bought a 10" Rockford style pressure plate, 10" spring-cushion disc, and throwout bearing from Northwestern Auto Supply in Michigan. All pieces looked NOS to me. The set came with a new pilot bearing too, which I would recomend. I had all the pieces out of the truck though so I could give them some dimensions where needed. You could likely buy the pilot bearing cheap at a local bearing supply house. These guys were great but you need to call them - email didn't cut it. ☺

Mine was a messy job as mice had completely destroyed the whole interior of the flywheel housing with rust and nesting. My flywheel was badly rusted so I blasted it and had it resurfaced. Pitting was still visible after grinding but it works fine so far. My ring gear has some bad patches too but is also working well so far. These units are pretty low-tech and forgiving with the low hp involved.

Also, it is true that the flywheel is drilled with two bolt circles, one for the 10" clutch and another slightly larger for the 11" version. Get the 11" clutch if possible. Good luck!

Re: Flywheel Questions

Great info. Can I ask what the year and model of your truck is?

Re: Flywheel Questions

Yeah, it does have an all-business kind of look to it. Lol! That being said, the tires are only temporary until I find something more suitable. I suppose I should post a build thread. Perhaps some would find it useful.

With all the adjustability in the clutch linkage I'll bet it would be easy to sub in something from a Ford or Chevy truck of similar vintage, if the right parts can't be found. It would be easy for anyone with a drill press and a caliper to drill the flywheel for a different bolt circle - if needed. Of course, the disc would have to fit the IHC spline...

I can provide more info on the process if you need.

Re: Flywheel Questions

Thanks.
Yeah, your truck is my new favorite.
My clutch is slipping a little bit, here and there. I wanted to drive it for a while longer, until it's in my budget to replace.
I don't plan to do the clutch myself. Even though removal/install is easy
for you and many others, I'm not so mechanically inclined. However, I just wanted to source parts prior to removal to
save time. I found this remanufactured clutch assembly from Fort Wayne Clutch:

The 11 inch from O'Reilly doesn't seem to be available. I'm not sure it will work for mine. I know you have a
3/4 ton (at least L- 122 and all) and you've recently done this; Do you think this will work? BTW, here's mine:

Thanks.

Re: Flywheel Questions

That sure looks like the correct clutch to me. Pretty good price too. The description states pretty clearly that it will fit your truck so I'd go for it. Maybe call them about particulars - might get it cheaper yet.

I found the clutch replacement (and obligatory pedal assembly and linkage rebuilding) to be a big job so if you can find someone to do it for you then do so for sure. It's a bit tricky to get the flywheel-crankshaft connection nice and clean when the engine is still in the vehicle. Make sure the "guy" is reputable.

Oh, and I couldn't get at the pic of your truck. Pintrest wants a credit card number to see it and thats not going to happen. Lol!

Thanks Oldstuff; Good Idea. I think I'll contact Fort Wayne Clutch to make sure.
Here's my R-120. it's a 2 generation Farm truck, originally from Nebraska.
