Re: ? front axle F-160 bore diameter for king pin 55' R110

I never did front end work on any of my L, R, S trucks,

I didn't know kingpins can be removed front axle by hand,

I know when I did my KB-1 after learning the hard way they were pressed into the axle, I took it to a front end shop,

that's when I discovered the mid production size change of K series king pins, While my truck was on a lift, later large ones were $17 at Shucks,

the early smaller ones were discontinued yrs. earlier, I had to get them at Vintage Auto Parts for $80.00,,,,,,,that was a lot of money in 1975

Good idea I'll try that.

The best that I can measure is the bottom of the axle bore is 0.861 inch (which is what the pins are) and the top of the axle bore is 0.862 to 0.863 inch diameter. So it appears the top of the bore is worn about 0.001 to 0.002 inches larger than the bottom.

Thanks,

Neal
