Front Parking Lights

The parking lights were in pretty bad shape. The "pigtail" connectors were Kaput and non functional. I located two at my local NAPA store part# 78712

After bead blasting the housings and painting I replaced the pigtails and replaced the bulbs with #189 bulbs as I converted the electrics to 12 volts. I made new cork gaskets and polished the chrome. They work!

Look very nice, If a person is willing to "think out side the box" you can usually come up with a solution.

Indeed!

The junction block for the front lights literally fell apart when I disconnected the wires. I tried a number of materials to make a new one. I settled on Bakealite. I had a number of foot pedals for Singer sewing machines (a past hobby) the upper cover has enough material for two junction blocks for the KB-2. If "Prototype #1" is a bust.............

BTW: Lignum Vitae makes an excellent upper steering shaft bearing. I figured if the Prop shaft bearing on my 44 year old sailboat has survived this long......

Re: Front Parking Lights

The wiring junction block for the lights, if it is the one about middle of the radiator support on top, is available from Rhode Island Wiring Service. Here is what I ordered and got for my brother's KB5 to replace the rotted/broken junction block. http://www.riwire.com/ It is listed under "Supplies" on the left hand side of the page, then click on the heading of "Junction Blocks, Fuses, Seal Beam and Instrument Light Sockets" and it is called a "GM Headlight Junction Block."

They also appear to have the parking light sockets with wires, but your idea is probably just as good and most likely cheaper to do. Nice job.

Nice job, usually they seem to clean up. Biggest problem we run into is cracked lens

The lenses were the very first item I removed! I packed them into a box until I could get to them.

I have done some plastic casting and have looked into casting new lenses, just in case. The product I use does have a "crystal clear" product worth looking into.

I found a website that had the replacement pigtails and ordered them. They came in and fit perfectly. They have several different types depending on your application. http://www.wiringproducts.com/lighting- ... -harnesses

As a not to others looking for single contact pigtails, the ones I used came from NAPA. I posted the Info in the Parts list in this section.

$2.99 and if you have a local NAPA store, no shipping.
