Windshield gasket availability?

If this is covered already, I couldn't find it. I saw a thread on installing it but not where to aquire it.
I have my windshield frame apart and cleaned. I have new glass ready to go in with new rubber inner seal.
However the outer gasket/seal is rotten. The glass shop said they can't get it.
Is the outer seal available somewhere?

Thanks Worthy
The complete rubber kit looks like a good purchase.

Re: Windshield gasket availability?

Binder 46 where did you come up with the channels that go into the W/S frame? I have looked at Restoration Speclaties site and do not see where the carry that. I have called them and they suggested Windshield setting tape they sent me some samples It comes in various thickness and the thinner ones will work but it is 1.5" wide which leaves a lot on both sides of the glass to trim. I was hoping to find something closer the actual stuff they used when the built them. The other problem I had was getting those small machine screw out with out twisting them off which I did to a few even after I heated them a little. Getting those out is going to be a JOB to save the threads I think.
Anyway it is all fun.

Re: Windshield gasket availability?

Original window setting tape was trimmed by factory when glass was put in,

That's how it is used, it's really easy to trim, that's probably the easiest part of rebuilding a windshield.

The screws almost never come out intact, you can drill and retap the holes in most cases,

I've done probably 5 of these frames, if screw head shears off drill it out, If it strips in place then you center drill it and then larger drill the remainder of the head,

Most times the blocks are ok, but I've made new ones, pretty easy just find right size bar stock, drill press holes larger drill shoulder indent, tap threads,

I replaced all the slotted head screws with stainless steel Phillips head.

Has anybody gone to a permanently fixed windshield rather than it be one that opens? I understand that the gasket and the frame would be the same but what gasket and how could you set it up to have it sealed?

Re: Windshield gasket availability?

I've had a few trucks that the windshield had been silicon-ed in place, because old gasket was no good.

properly installed and adjusted windshield should not leak a drop, there is 6 way adjustment at top hinges
