Bed steel or wood

I was looking on Craigs list and seen this 1948 Pickup with a wood bed floor. My KB-1 has a steel bed. Was there a choice back in the day ?

The floor is always gone when I find a Knox Box.

Re: Bed steel or wood

Our Shorty L110 came with what looks like an IHC 6 foot box with a shard of wood left attached from what may have been an original wood floor. The restoration will see a wood floor back in the "L"

Re: Bed steel or wood

My L had an original steel floor in the short box. It was rusted and bent and either had to be remade or replaced by a wood floor. I chose to put in a wood floor. Aside from the gazillion spot welds to be drilled out, it was simple enough to remove the steel and adapt a wood floor in. A new front wall also needed to be made and a tailgate.
L110 owner since 1974, finally rebuilt 2014.
