KB-5 Grain Truck

I just got an old KB-5 Grain truck with a 13'5" Omaha Standard wood box (shot) x 44" deep with a huge hoist under it. In the scheme of trucks where does this fit as far as size & capacity? It has a 6 cylinder flat head engine. At this point all
I know about it is that the glass is pretty good and all the tires are flat. It has been sitting in the same spot outside since at least year 2000 and most likely since original owner drove it last. cleddy

KB-5 is generally referred to as a 1 1/2 ton in the brochures, different axles etc. change change actual capacity,

a KB-5 would come from factory with a GRD-233 unless special ordered different motor, Or it got a transplant sometime in it's almost 70 years on this rock

Here is a OMAHA Standard bed on my 1952 L.160 I believe the GVWR is 18,500#. With the weight of the truck and bed a load of wheat would be about max. it out. I dont know rhe weight of my truck is or how yours would compare.
I dont think rhe hoist would limit the haul as much as the bed.
Those tires may hold air. Just enough air to roll. Be careful around split rims

How long is that box? I had some experience with boxes and hoists as I have mounted one on a 1950 Chevy 6400 farm truck. I was limited to 12 foot to match old side boards. The one I just got had a wood floor and is rotted out but not enough the po loaded about 30 old wore out tires on it. He should of paid me to take them?
I have worked on the split rims before. Careful and proper fitting rings are the trick. I have never seen one come apart but it is always on my mind as I chain them and park forks over them with weight and wait hours before trusting the fix.cleddy

Mu bed is 14'. It's been a couple years since I took thar measurment.Its probably 13.5 feet iside the box. Split rims are ok if as yoy say rhey are seated right. I need to tighten up the steel rods that run across the beams. Just like a loose ladder. Those old hydraulic cylinders were big.
I would like to slide an old truck camper in the box and take a long slow trip across route 66. Max. 200 miles daily.

I had a chance to check the tires- Three aired up to about 30# and one had a little tube showing. The fronts appear to hold air but one was bulgeing out so relived that one. Back right leaked back down and left right had more tube showing before I left. Had to relieve that one before it popped. Some pictures if I can do it. ? cleddy

You must have the cheaper version of Maypop tires... A mixture of Willpop's and Donepops'!

BTW your missing a set of rims on the back, they are supposed to be dual's. Those are lock-ring wheels and not splits.

The fellow had a extra rim laying by the truck. He had no idea how they got off as he got the truck with the property. Then he told us about another tire over in the weeds that went with it. When we dug it out it ended up being a 10" x 22" semi truck tire and about 8 inches larger. I am about 2 pops from having nothing??cleddy
