WTB handle for windshield regulator

I'm looking for a crank/handle to operate my windshield regulator on the top of the dash on my 1945 K7.
If anyone has an extra one I would be happy to purchase it and pay shipping.
At worse case if I can borrow one I might be able to replicate it.
I suppose I need one if I'm ever to get my windshield out to replace the glass and seal and so on.

If anyone can help me with this dilemma I'd appreciate it immensely.

Thanks again, Peter (this is the best website but, you already know that ...)

What does the drive shaft for the window look like?. Is it a square drive like the side window crank? Will a crank handle from a door glass work?
I would rather have tools I do not need than to need tools I do not have
Thinking risks being controversial and possibly being offensive

Yep, I think it has 16 splines if I counted them correctly. A 3/8" 8 point socket ( for use on square nuts) fits pretty well and may work if you are in a jam until you can find one reasonably priced. Take care though, I'd hate to see you gall the splines on the regulator especially if the mechanism is tight/frozen. Expanding your search to '30's era trucks of all brands may help find some. Pretty sure Ford used a screw on top to secure handle, IH and maybe Reo used set screw on the side. Not sure about Dodge, Chevy, etc.

Yes, it is a spline and unlike anything I have laying around here. I think I'm just going to bite the bullet and go for the one on Ebay.
I have found several of these handles and the owners just refuse to sell them, even when they are just sitting in an old rusting cab
out in the yard. I don't get it. But, that's okay, I'm tired of looking so here goes. $$$

Thanks for the help once again, Peter

Re: WTB handle for windshield regulator

shoot I can't find my box of handles, I know I have at least 2-3 of em, looks like you bought it anyway,

clean and lube up the threaded rod really good before you start cranking on it,

and it helps to push on the frame as you crank it out, I'd go out a little back in, out a little more back in, instead of just cranking on it,

that's what I had to do on my panel, windshield hadn't been moved in 25 yrs.

Re: WTB handle for windshield regulator

Thanks, John for the sensible advice, mine hasn't been moved in 20 to 25 years either. I broke down and bought the handle because I have actually run into some
very good deals on other parts, think I'm actually ahead of where I could be. And, it puts me one part closer to a complete truck. That's my rationalization
anyway. Yeah, I paid to much for it but, now I have one. It's an early Christmas present, that's it!

Thanks again, Peter

that is a very nice handle. I am lucky in that mine is in really good condition with no pitting.

Dang! I got to up my game. Sold a K2 rad for $50 CDN and threw in a generator off a green diamond with a tail gate warranty. I do have one of those handles but its not chromed. The get broken when someone forces a seized windshield crank so make sure crank is working well before using the handle.
