Now working on overheating problem. I think compression was leaking into the water jacket. Have a new head gasket but some people said that these GD 214 engines sometimes developed cracks in the head or possibly block? Any comments on where these cracks could be and how to find them. I am going to do the normal clean them up and look but if anyone knows where they normally crack i can look there closer.

Wow! Looks like my status changed from Rookie to "Pile of Parts". I guess that happens with time. My truck is close to pile of parts now but in a few days I hope it is back on the road.

Looking forward to getting out of the house and out to Montana to play with the old K4. I found some side boards that can be cut down and put on my new wood bed.

Back in Montana working on an apartment. K-4 is helping haul lumber. It still overheats and needs fuel pump leaks fixed. Wish I could find a new fuel pump that would fit. Could go electric but wish I didn't have to. Hope the overheating could be radiator needing a good cleaning. I washed it out good but may have some corrosion from setting years with rats nests inside.

There was a guy in Cali selling one in the FaceBook KB group last fall. He had to swap the rear axle because K-4 brakes are unserviceable (no parts available).

Pull the pump and send to "Then and Now Automotive" In Weymouth, MA. They will overhaul and return a pump that is compatible with todays gasoline.
