Re: K-4 Owners

I still have some early B, C, D 20" rims.
Demounting and boxing and shipping is $$$$.
Best to pick them up. Near Fresno, CA.
PM for price.

Re: K-4 Owners

I would love to come out and tear down those old rims and see if they are still usable. But from West Virginia to California is a little too far. My truck is actually at my Grandchildren's house (my sons). In Great Falls Montana. even from there it is quite a drive.

Re: K-4 Owners

I just had Mack parts brought in from Montana. The driver said it was indeed a long trip to Central CA.
Central CA is (unfortunately for those far away) one of the best places on Earth to find old truck parts. Dry and reusable, good parts.
This cool old stuff is still coming out of barns, fields, businesses and garages. I love it! Just SO much of a good thing.
I've noticed here that there is a relative shortage of 1930s/1940s one tons of all makes, mid-fifties IHC pickups and PRETTY old Fords. Just an observation.
Lots of early cars that were made into farm equipment of all kinds including cotton trailers before pickups and trucks were widely available or affordable.
If it weren't for the scorching summers (six months out of the year) and the filthy air it would be paradise.

Re: K-4 Owners

Monson, that does sound great. On Long Island, I may as well be on Hawaii when trying to get anything for this truck. Not many IHC trucks around these parts and what does exist suffered badly from rust. And NO one wants to drive through NYC to get out here to pick up or deliver anything big. I need to move to PA where plenty of farm trucks are still around.

Happy New Year!
Again, you should hang out with the K/KB-5 crowd. Unless you LIKE to be lonely.

Thanks for the reply. I like all the old K and KBs however I want to keep the light on just in case other K-4s need a place to rest.

Re: K-4 Owners

according to Wisconsin Historical Society there were 4,608 K-4 trucks made from mid year 1940 to sometime in 1942 when they were discontinued,

and 258 KS-4 trucks (two speed rear end), total of 4,866 K & KS-4 trucks made,

compared to 84,451 K-5 trucks from mid year 1940 to 1947 when they went to KB-5,

and 41,741 KS-5 trucks made during that time, total of 126,192 K & KS-5 trucks made

roughly 121,326 more K, KS-5 trucks made than K, KS-4 trucks,

Not including the roughly 75,000+ KB-5 and roughly 45,000 KBS-5 made from 1947-1949 (site doesn't show end number of KB-5 and KBS-5 trucks in 1949 just start number so guesstimate based on 1947 & 48 production numbers,)

so roughly 246,000+ K, KS, KB KBS 5 trucks made compared to 4,866 K, KS-4 trucks made,

probably why not many answers to your call,
Gentle Men! you can't fight in here! This is the war room!
