K-4 Owners

Hello out there. I am looking for K-4 Owners to share info. I think the K-4 is a very limited build. Hopefully there are a few of you out there. I have one in Montana but I don't have the title. It has been setting around for about 20 years. I got it running in one Saturday. However it needs lots of fix up items to get it on the road.
I will try to figure out how to put a picture on here.

Can't imagine a stampede. I've never seen a K-4. One other member here has one, I think.
You'll have to talk to K-5 owners.

Wondered where all to look for serial numbers. I have a tag on the driver side kick panel. Is has a lot of wear and can not see it very clear. Hope there is a more substantial number stamped somewhere.

Resting place for the last 10 or so years.

One of my friends said "That's a butte". He was talking about the truck:)

Re: K-4 Owners

I love the cast wheels on the K series. All mine have had the disc wheels.
Upside to a bigger truck is that you might be able to find a front fender easier and cheaper.
That kick panel tag is the ID tag.
That number is repeated on the side of the frame near front leaf spring. A putty knife might be needed.

Re: K-4 Owners

The rim size on the rear is one of my questions. I have two different width rims on the dual wheels on the back. I think the tires on the back should be 650-20. Someone put some larger tires and rims on the outside position? I think if I put four 650s on the back it will work ok but I would rather have all the same width rims on the back. Anyone have some spare 650x20 rims laying around?

Re: K-4 Owners

You are likely looking for 5.00" x20 rims. Rim size is not tire size. Measure between the flanges of the rim. Narrow 20" rims are hard to find in usable condition. I'm sure I don't have any under 6 or 6.5" ( which would be for a 8.25 x 20 tire)

Re: K-4 Owners

That sounds correct. I think my narrower rims do measure 5 inches
So I guess I am looking for two 5x20 rims
Has anyone put 650 tires on the wider rims? Wonder if it makes it look strange?

It is true that we don't have many posts regarding K-4. If you are out there please post or send me an email.

Most tire spec's say you can go one size wider or narrower than the spec'd rim width and be ok, but not beyond that.
With spoke rims the rim width also determines the back spacing, so wider rims will move the tire center away from the clamping face. May give you interference problems. 5.5" rims are not much if any easyer to find then 5".
