I've sent trucks to the scrapper in better shape than yours, the metal worms had a picnic, wow, ambitious project, a lot of welding patch work to go,

Re: 49 KB-2 Restoration Pics

Thanks 1949 / KB3. I should point out that the original cab and doors as seen in the first few pictures were junk. I have a replacement cab and doors from PA. That cab can be seen later on in the pictures during initial mock up. While it too will need some sheet metal work, it is far better than the original. The worst part was the frame. That has since been completed and will post more pictures soon.

That is one big job. Your workmanship is fantastic. I doubt that I would have what it takes to do what you are dong.

Thanks Nikinutshop. I appreciate that. I'm somewhat of a perfectionist I guess.

Re: 49 KB-2 Restoration Pics

I like the Cummins 4bta. I have a 4bta with a TH475 and NVG 241c for my son's L110 Shorty 4X4. This is a good engine. It weighs about the same as the IHC lump and is many times more powerful. I see the 4bta fits your K as well as it fits our L.
Is that transmission a Borg Warner T5?.
We bought a set of Dana 44 disc / drum axles from a 1997 Ram 1500. These axles will slip under the L110 original springs, easily.
Keep up the good work.

Re: 49 KB-2 Restoration Pics

The Cummins fits like a glove. I couldn't ask for a better fit. No firewall or frame modifications. New front crossmember is all.The transmission is a Mazda M5OD-R2 out of a 99 F-150. It's a heavy duty 5 spd. with OD. I have a 4 spd Borg Warner for sale if anyone is interested. Cheap!! Also have a bunch of nice F-150 parts including a 4.2L V6 available.

Forming the channels. Note the cardboard in the lower die. Anyone know what it's purpose is?
