Re: Quick Build Update.

That is interesting because all the tanks I have seen did NOT have a drain petcock.
Wonder how or why IHC installed them?
Maybe an option?

Re: Quick Build Update.

I had the same drain petcock on my 46. It might have broke when I tried to drain out the fluid. Your tank is much nicer than mine. I had many fiberglass patches and it still had rust holes.

40+ year old gas kind of stinks.

as I wrote, it's listed in the parts book, not as an option,

most manufacturers back then put shut offs at the tank so you could service fuel line or fuel pump without losing your tank full of gas on the ground.

I also wrote they had issues, so many were most likely removed sometime in the 70 plus years of different owners,

I'm not going to fall on a sword to claim as fact there were factory installed on ALL trucks, but everyone I've had that the tank/fuel line hadn't been modified had them,

manual calls for different part number for my KB-6 as fuel leaves tank at the bottom instead of the side, that is why KB-6 petcock is slightly different than the KB-1 one, same turn handle/manufacturer though,

Re: Quick Build Update.

the tank on my 49 KB1 had one, it is how I drained most of the gas out before I lowered the tank.

My '49 also had that same petcock. Works like a champ. Definitely handy for fuel system maintenance.

Re: Quick Build Update.

Thanks!
No, the leaf spring were in good shape, they were blasted and thoroughly cleaned. Felt no need to pull them apart.
