KB8 Grill Strips

I am looking for 2 or 3 stainless grill strips. I have chrome parts and need to know of it is cheaper to have them re-chromed or can I buy them already chromed? Also, where is the best place to purchase rubber trim parts for the cab, doors and windshield? How do I go about finding the original International red to paint the truck? Thanks!

Check with this outfit: http://www.restorationspecialties.com/
I have never bought anything, so you might want to wait to hear from others.

These folks have your stuff too. As to buying new vs. re-chroming, it depends. As an example, I got a quote for re-chroming my KB-6 hood ornament and it came to $600. There is one for sale on eBay right now that looks spectacular for $175. Your mileage may vary depending on what part you're talking about.

Re: KB8 Grill Strips

the grill strips on the smaller KBs are stainless steel. I have not seen one of the larger ones up close, but I just assumed they would be stainless as well.

Re: KB8 Grill Strips

If they are truly Stainless, you should be able to "message" them back into shape(takes lots of care) then they can be polished.
Put in an internet search : repairing stainless trim Lots of stuff comes up. There are professionals that do this, and I think that a person can do some of this on their own.
Here is a neat site: http://www.secondchancegarage.com/publi ... repair.cfm

Yup - the larger KB trim is stainless. Here are a couple blog posts I did on the stainless pieces from my KB-6 using Nevr Dull to clean them up:

Thanks - I just bought the one on eBay for $175. Now I just need some rubber trim - would appreciate any suggestions. Is Restoration Specialties a good place to buy from - they wanted $330 for the rubber trim kit.

Yes they are good to buy from, I have bought several kits from them and am very satisfied with them. Others on the site use them too. There is also Clesters that has rubber seals for these trucks.
