KB2 brake parts

I'm getting down to the nitty gritty with my KB2 resurrection and I am going to be needing some brake parts. I have found the rubber hoses and a new master cylinder (and a kit) and I have also found kits for the wheel cylinders...however I have not be able to locate complete wheel cylinders. I have not yet torn the brakes down on these 'new' axles I just swapped under my truck. The axles themselves look very good and all the brakes are free, however I have no idea what the cylinders or the shoes are going to look like when I get them apart. So - what I need is a line on wheel cylinder assemblies and brake shoes. Anyone?

Re: KB2 brake parts

Speedway Motors has new wheel cylinders with a stainless steel sleeve in them. They are for 39 to 48 ford cars but they fit and work in our K and KB's 1 and 2. They have 2 sizes, 1 1/4" x 1" front cylinders and 1 1/8" x 1" rear cylinders, left's and right's, they are $49.99 each. As long as you put them in pairs they work great on the K and KB's, will bolt right on.
910-65422-side, 1 1/4" x 1" front
910-65415-side, 1 1/8" x 1" rear
Not affiliated with them, just like that they have parts that help us out and reasonable prices.

Also for brake shoes, some of the early ford models used the same shoes. FYI

Hey Bill, if that info is not already in the Parts link, could you put it there please. Thanks

Re: KB2 brake parts

Also, I was thinking the rears matched up with an early 1990's Ford 3/4 ton pickup. If I remember right the only difference was the angle of the brake line fitting.

Re: KB2 brake parts

I don't think 1990's ford trucks have stepped wheel cylinders. By stepped I mean 2 different size bores in 1 wheel cylinder.

Re: KB2 brake parts

Thanks for the info guys...

And I don't think it will matter whether the cylinders are stepped or not. That seems like some pretty 'out there' engineering to me anyway.

I'll be checking up on that note about the early 90's Ford retrofit. That stuff is dirt cheap. I'll be sure to post up my findings and any pictures I might take.

Here's a pic of a wheel cylinder for the rear of a '92 F250 with a 351 in it....

Rock Auto has them for $2.98.

Re: KB2 brake parts

Yup, that's what I got. I think mine were more like $6, but remember at the time thinking they were cheaper than a rebuild kit, so made good sense.

Re: KB2 brake parts

FYI, I installed the wheel cylinders from calspeedshop in my '49 KB1 a couple years ago and they work great.
