KB3 Leaf springs

My rear leaf springs are broken and need replaced. Just got off the phone with the spring shop and the best they can do is $650/side using a set of springs from a f350 and manufacturing the top spring both sides. I'm hoping there is a better option available. Any suggestions?

Thanks - Cirvan

Posting here is good and another place that is a great resource is Facebook. Some of the guys here are active there including me. There are several pages dedicated to IH and specifically K and KB trucks. Here is one https://www.facebook.com/groups/KbClassifieds/

I think it should be easy to find what you need since many remove the cabs and dispose of the old chassis to build custom trucks.
Good luck, Bob

Re: KB3 Leaf springs

yea to the good Capt. someone was selling a complete K-3 chassis/running gear on one of those FB pages, search back on them,

you should be able to get a whole bunch of parts for the price of one side at your ripoff spring shop,

if you want new, shop around, even with shipping someone has to be less than that.

Seriously, I might have the springs. I'd be reasonable. HOW LONG ARE THEY? Eye to eye. Measurements?

Re: KB3 Leaf springs

Cirvan, I'm updating my KB3 rear end and will probably have the springs replaced along with the axel. If you can hold on a bit, I'll know what the shop guy is planning. I'm also thinking about selling the transmission and GRD 214 that is being replaced by a SBC. Where are you located? Hector

Re: KB3 Leaf springs

Sorry Monson thought you were kidding around. My springs are in the shop not on the truck so I cant measure them right now. Should have them back this week and I'll post measurements.

Hector I am in Ontario Canada. I see you are in TX. Not sure what shipping would be. They were heavy!

K, KB-3 rear springs are wider than K,KB-1 or 2, so if going used. they need to be from a K,KB-3,

you CAN use narrower K,KB-1, 2 but then you'd need to take up the slop at frame and at axle,

if you only have one or two broken leafs, you can just replace those with donors, no need to ship entire leaf pack,

sounds like you have a couple options here, :t0201:

Re: KB3 Leaf springs

Thanks for the suggestions Bedrock. I wish I could go with just a couple of springs but mine are very pitted and I think its just a matter of time before they fail. I have some measurements Monson.

Centre of bolt to centre of front eye = 24.5"
Centre of bolt to centre of rear eye = 26.5"
The eye has a bronze bushing that takes a 5/8" pin
13 leaves with an overall thickness of 4 3/8"
2.25" width
