Re: Mirror & Grille Strip Tooling

A big thank you to George aka macgiver.

George is going out of his way to travel to Conrads to pick up the dies he will then box them up and send it to Muncia Indiana where they will then get put in a container to head downunder. I would say I should see them about early June.

Without Georges help these dies would have been scrapped and the opertunity to be able to reproduce the mirrors and grill strips lost forever.

Thank you to Conrad for working with us to make this all happen.

Re: Mirror & Grille Strip Tooling

George has now boxed up all the tooling and it should be on its way to Muncie IA in the next couple of days.

Once again a big thank you for all the effort that he has put into helping save these without wanting anything in return.

Re: Mirror & Grille Strip Tooling

Glad to help you out Trevor, hope you can figure out the myriad of pieces and fixtures coming your way. I know I scratched my head more than once. Kind of like assembling a Quadra-jet when its handed to you in a box in pieces. I'm confident you'll figure it out. The box is small but weighs in at 180 lbs. I thought I screwed it to the floor when I went to lift it in the back of the pick-up.It was an absolute pleasure to meet and talk with Spikedog. He's incredibly talented and his expertise will be missed. I got to see his '49 panel which by the way is on hold but what a fine job he's done so far. . . hope he gets to finish it. It has all the "good stuff"" for sure.

Nice panel truck! No shortage of chrome under the hood.

Re: Mirror & Grille Strip Tooling

Just letting everyone know the dies are on the water and due to arrive in about 3-4 weeks time once I get them will start to sort them out.

The bloke who packed the container also commented on the weight of the box.

Re: Mirror & Grille Strip Tooling

George
Those bits weren't gunna move any time soon. And yes that little box was a heavy sucker.

Now when I get a bit of spare time will start to have a play. Think the centre grill strips might be the easiest one to figure out first.

Conrad will send you an email to sort out the order for the tooling.

Hopefully can get some made soon.
