bed underside color

What color is the underside of a 46 K1? My truck is green. When I was removing the 40+ years of rust and farm soil I thought I saw some green too.

I know why Grandpa welded in the bed to the frame. 7 of the 8 bolt mount points were fatigued/broken. Much easier to weld it than pull the bed and weld in new plates.

I got new plates welded in and the entire underside wirewheeled and primed. Just need to add some paint.

Thanks.

My KB-1 was also green. When I disassembled the bed I found everything was painted the same color. My truck came with A Knox box and the previous owner had welded A steel floor over the origonal wood floor. I was able to save some of the boards to use as patterns for new ones. they were painted green on both sides. Goose

Thanks goose. This is a steel box. I'll look for some green paint a home depot or Lowes.

If anyone has an old rusty steel box and want to give me about 2 feet of non-rusty bed, let me know. The front of the box is pretty rusty. I can fix the sides but the bed needs repair.

Grandpa had sheet metal screwed down so I missed this until I got all the junk out.

since I'm posting, here is a pic of the bed welded up, primed and painted black. I'm ignoring the rusty patch for now

Looks good. I wish I had as much ambition!

I had considered repairing my bed as I had similar rough areas but thought blending new or good used with the old bed just would not blend..I ended up getting a piece of 14 ga steel and had a shop bend rear of bed to give me an area to mount tail lights. Just an easy way out. I have a old bed for my other K model here but I don't think there is two feet that look as good as any of your current bed.

Thanks. I like the idea. I'll probably leave it alone until I do the body. I just want to get the truck stopping, steering and going first.
