Hand Crank 214

Can anyone tell me if a hand crank came with the 214ci or was it a special order. I know there was a bracket on the front bumper. Does anyone have one and does anyone have one for sale. Also were would you store the crank when not in use.
Thanks Daryl

Re: Hand Crank 214

Most hand cranks were stored behind the seat. Here are some photos of mine. I will get the measurements so you can make one if you like. I will have to measure mine again as I can't find the paper from the last time I did it.

Re: Hand Crank 214

Bill, I think these are your measurements:
I have an original crank hande. The rod diameter is 3/4", the length of the main shaft is 22" to the bend, the offset is 10" to the handle, then the handle is 4 1/2". The pin is set back a 1/2" from the end and is 3/8" diameter by 1 1/2" long.

Re: Hand Crank 214

Thanks guys I have a machine shop here in town and will see if he can make me one. I also need some specs on the bumper bracket that the crank goes through if you have some pictures it would also help me in getting one made or looking for one. I will also run an add in the classifieds to see if anyone has one.
Thanks again
Daryl

PS have any of you used yours to start the truck and how well does it start.

Re: Hand Crank 214

Thanks Bill for the pic. I found one behind or under the seat in my truck.

I never know what is original or just thrown in to use on the farm. It didn't fit the bottle jack I found next to the crank. The bottle jack uses a 3/8" style extension so I couldn't figure how how they used the crank with the jack.

A piece of 3/4" rod, a bit of 3/8" rod and a blue tip wand should be enough to create one.

Re: Hand Crank 214

The only models with the bumper bracket that I have seen were the 5's and bigger. I have 3 KB-2's and none of them had a bumper bracket. I used to start my red KB-2 with the crank and it just goes through the hole in the grill and inserts into the nut on the crankshaft.

Re: Hand Crank 214

Wildman is right. Only the KB5 and up had the bracket. Also, I made my own crank (then I found an original), and it took me about 1 hour total. Not hard at all. Biggest thing was to find the right size drill to make the hole in the end a press fit. However, if you don't have an acetylene torch set, you will be challenged to make one.
