BD 308 Engine and Oil Filter
I managed to save an old BD308 motor and a 5 speed overdrive transmission form the scrap pile this past weekend. The motor turns over fine by hand, the clutch looks almost new and the pressure plate has paint on it like it was new, a real find!
I have one question regarding the motor. I always thought the oil filters on the BD308 motors pointed down. The motor came out a 1954 R182 and the code on the motor is a " BD308 " motor. However as you can see from the first photo the oil filter points up just just like my filter on by FAC 259 and BLD 269 motors. Does anyone know if the early BD308 motors had the old stile oil filter that points up because I thought all BD308 motors pointed down? I am actually very happy that this filter points up since it will drop right into my K7 with out having the filter hit the steering box. I was just wondering what year the filters starting to point down?
