Torque Question
Finishing the engine from a rebuild and don't have specs on torque for bolts. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

torque? you don't just twist them til they creak? uhm, in other words, i don't but there was a tread earlier that had some. did you do a search?

Cylinder head bolts- tighten to 35 ft lbs, then to 60-70 ft lbs, then warm engine up to running temperature for 15 to 20 minutes and retorque to 60-70 ft lbs.
Rod bearing bolts- 80 ft lbs
Main bearing bolts- 105 ft lbs
These are for Green Diamond engines
I did not find manifold bolt torque values in my book.

Well sh*t... I just rebuilt my 214. My machinist found (in a very old book) the torque specs of 65 for the rods and 85 for the mains, so that's what I did. It's been running great, but now I'm worried something is going to loosen up. Looks like I'll be dropping the pan and retorqueing everything. Ugh...

My book is a fourth edition Motors manual, printed in 1951, ranges from 1936 to 1951, all makes trucks and tractors.

I have the shop manual for the KB series truck. I'll look it up later and update this post. I know for a fact that the head bolts are to be torqued to 65 ft lbs. because I just did my head.

Ok, this is directly from the CTS-8 1940 1/2 - 1949 IHC manual:
Head - 65 ft lbs.
Mains - 105 ft lbs.
rods - 80 ft lbs.
so it is written, so it shall be done..........
