Data plate info

I have this panel truck that I was told was a 1941 International . There was no VIN plate on the firewall, but there are 2 plates inside the cab, driver's side "kick panel".
1st plate says: Model K1-214
Chassis K1-36211

2nd plate says : Model HF-6 1/2 -5222

Can anybody tell me more about this truck from this info?

Re: Data plate info

from what I can find on this page: http://content.wisconsinhistory.org/cdm ... 529/rec/12
(click on the first set of dates, that will expand the list, then click on the 1940-1947) Beginning serial number for 1946 was 28611 and beginning serial number for 1947 was 48842 My thoughts and how I read it is that it is a post war truck made in 1946. Does it have holes in the grill work for stainless trim? The second plate may indicate bed length?
My thoughts.

Re: Data plate info

I didn't get the original front end with the panel body. The front end I have is off of a KB3.
So I guess I have a 1946, not a '41.
Thanks for the info.

Re: Data plate info

If you have looked at your frame rail in front of the steering box, somewhere in that area you should find the chassis number hand stamped into the frame. the numbers are about 1/2 tall and generally not very deep. Those should match your Title, Data plate info.

my 49 kb1 has a number stamped on the engine block that matches the nubmer on the data plate on the fire wall. you look there as well.

Re: Data plate info

It is true that if the engine is original, the engine serial number will be on the Data Plate. There have been some cases where DMV has licensed the vehicle on the engine number.(on the "big three": with matching engine/vin numbers it was not much of an issue. On IH, I have not seen any engine/chassis numbers match on early stuff. The Key is What does your Title use as a "vin" number? That is what you have to work with. If you do have an engine number, me personally, I would work to get the Title changed to the Chassis number, as that is the one that is the one listed on the Wisconsin Historical Societies page.

Just my thoughts

Re: Data plate info

There is a guy on ebay that sells EXACT reproductions of the name plates. He is in Poland, believe it or not. I think he is American GI on military assignment there. He has not listed recently, but I bought a data plate from him, and it is 100% correct in all aspects. Size, lettering, and hole spacing.
