Voltage reg part number?

Hey all, my truck is up and running, but now I've noticed it's overcharging. I cleaned all the contacts in the VR, as well as all the connections and it's still pushing 11+ volts to the battery. Not good. I'm sure the VR is a common item..Anyone have a Napa part number?

Yep, you're right, all VR's are adjustable, but I think mine has a dead coil...fail.

I found this box in my K1. Maybe this will help. I didn't open it to see if the part number matches the box.

Re: Voltage reg part number?

Starting with the MT-52D IH parts manual which lists IH & Delco-Remy #'s ...
Ran the Delco-Remy #'s on the Remy site, all are obsolete.Next was to cross reference all the PN's at Standard Motor Products (SMP).

6 volt
Standard & low cut in gen.
89175H IH
1118208 ob X'd to 1118303
1118303 ob
Both Delco-Remy PN's cross to
Standard Motor Products (SMP) VR-1

40A gen.
92139H
1118212 ob X'd to 1118842
1118842 ob
SMP VR-8

12 volt 17A gen.
92284H
1118210 ob X'd to 1118304
1118304 ob X'd to 1118354
1118354 ob
SMP VR-20

12V 25A gen.
92140H
1118214 ob X'd to 1118316
1118316 ob
SMP VR-20

As for the PN from Rick's pic. It doesn't cross to SMP nor come up on a web search.
Trying some of the applications on the label got many other PN's. VR-1 came up twice.
Here's a link for SMP
http://www.standardbrand.com/Online%20C ... ntent.aspx

SMP doesn't list IH previous to 1950 in application look up's, VR-1 does show for a '50 L-110 though.

Re: Voltage reg part number?

Tonight I did open the box and it looks like it is NOS. The paint has rubbed off onto the bag. I couldn't find any numbers stamped on the VR. Only Delco Remy.

Oh well. I have the original 6 volt VR but didn't look to see if the numbers match. Let me know if you want me to continue the search.

6v, POS ground VR's with the 3 hole mount are still available from NAPA. Let me see if I can track down the PN.

Re: Voltage reg part number?

The SMP #'s I posted are all good. Rockauto for one stocks them all.Just bring PN for the application with you to your FLAPS and they can cross it.

I wouldn't have posted PN's that weren't good!
