Exhaust system/exploded view diagrams

Hello all,
I just recently purchased a 47 KB1 and now the work begins. First, I need to replace the exhaust system. Right now, there is some rusted out muffler held on with bailing wire that is choking me out in the cab. Where did the original exhaust system run? Did it go all the way to the back? This one currently exhausts out to the side of the bed. Is there a specific type muffler needed for correct engine back pressure? I'm new to these trucks so anticipate a steep learning curve.
Also, are there exploded view parts diagrams in existence? They sometimes provided these drawings with the parts lists of vehicles for easy identifying of location and appearance.
Thanks for your assistance in advance.

i have a 49 KB1. the single exhaust has a small turn down just behind the muffler which puts it just ahead of the rear axle. Not sure if this a stock set up or not though.

Re: Exhaust system/exploded view diagrams

my KB-1 had exhaust that ran all the way to the back up over rear axle, and had a slight downward outward bend to poke out below bed and rear bumper, looked original but who knows?

OK, I guess as long as it's behind me, it's good.

Re: Exhaust system/exploded view diagrams

I had a pipe made up for my R110 at an exhaust shop. The price was right $25 from the manifold to the muffler (5 feet of 2 1/2" pipe). Seems like having the pipes bent might be cheaper that trying to find an already made exhaust system.

The one on my truck turned out just past the rear axle. I had it replaced by a local muffler shop. Front to back in stainless including muffler cost me 185.00

Thanks again. Seems like having it made locally is the way to go. I'll run it past the rear axle.
