Re: Difinitive U joint/driveshaft thread

Put a call into the shop, still waiting on a slip-yoke. No big deal, not like my trucking days where every hr counted. I put a 2nd coat of epoxy on the tank patches, and tomorrow I'll flip it over and epoxy the inside where I welded. The next few days I can paint the tank and mounts, get the tank mounted and the fuel line run. Quick trip to town for some gasoline, to prime it with. When the shaft is done, it will be ready to roll.

Whow- who, the driveshaft is done. I will not get to pick it up until tomorrow, but after that it is 4 bolts and a test drive!
I'll get a picture of the two shafts side by side before I install the new onw.
1st stop will be a gas station. Not sure I'll be brave enough to fill the 50 gal tank!

Re: Difinitive U joint/driveshaft thread

Got the shaft in and took for a 25 mile ride, put 20 gal of gas in the new tank. I can run up to max engine speed in O/D and not shake the truck apart. This is with just the rear shaft replaced. Already put more in the driveline than I spent for the truck. Keeps up with 2 lane traffic, so 55-60 Mph no problem. slows a bit on the hills.

Got the speedo adapter vacuum line replaced, now the speedo reads somewhere close to road speed. 55-60 is doable.
