When I got the truck the shaft was gone. I found one which is the right length as near as I can determine. I got new joints from NAPA but they are not correct I do not believe as they way they are made does not allow you to screw the bolts in the e-brake housing on the back of the transmission.
The part numbers on the boxes the joint came in both say 546 as a part number. They fit in the shaft correctly. And both of them have the "notches" that fit into the both ends where they bolt to. The way they are made at the front joint you cannot get a wrench or a socket on the head of the bolt to screw them into the e- brake housing on the back of the transmission. The rear joint is built the same but that end attaches with bolts with nuts on the back side..you can get those tightened.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thank you.

You should be looking for 12 point bolts or maybe socket head bolts. The 12 point are flanged and have a much smaller drive head. I have seen these used on driveling more than a few times.
