D-200 1974 VIN on frame.

I bought this PU out of State so a VIN inspection is required before getting a title. A Highway patrol trooper came yesterday to inspect it and was unable to find it. This was orginally ordered as a cab and chassis and the end user installed a flatbed.
The trooper and I both looked for the VIN on the frame on both sides front end.
Would they have not put the VIN seeing as how it was a C & C from the factory?
It does have the factory VIN plate on the door but he needed to find that frame stamped numbers as well. And the factory plate on the door matches the number on the title.
Any ideas from the group
PS I live in Kansas.
Thank you.

Older trucks were stamped by the left front spring hanger, but not stamped hard, I would start looking there.

Waiting now till the 22nd for an inspection.
Thank you for the help.

Glad you found it. I know my K's are stamped there but there has been a lot of water under the bridge between 1941 and 1974!
