Greetings all. Got oil leaking behind the drive pulley on the front of the truck, am told I need a front crankshaft seal. Kb 5. 233 engine. I’m guessing it would be the same as the 213. Anybody know where I can get one?

From what I remember, these engines use a rope seal. You can buy it from McMaster Carr by size and material. Called valve packing.

it is a felt seal pressed between metal and tack welded in the front of the cover, you have to either pick out the old felt seal and slowly work a new one in, or cut tack welds and replace felt or install new rubber type seal,
either one involves removing timing cover, so you'll need a new gasket from olsons

If the crankshaft has a spiral machined into the seal surface you will have to use an original felt style seal. Modern rubber-lip seals fail with the spiral system The spiral was designed to pull the escaping oil back into the engine.

I stand corrected.

You can use the modern lip seal with the spiral type pulley if you put JB Weld on the pulley to fill the grooves, then install a speedi-sleeve.

Thanks for the great info. Looks like the front clip may have to come off for this, or can I get away with raising up the motor a little bit?

The front clip comes off very easily. Check your manual.
I changed the seal on my KB2. You have to remove the can ( cut the welds) that holds the seal in the timing chain cover. Then tack weld it back in with the new felt seal. I bet that International sold the timing cover with a new seal in it back in the day.
I changed mine and it still leaks.

International trucks do not leak,,,,,they mark their spot.
