1949 KB-5 wiper motor

I have a 1949 KB-5 with the original vacuum wiper motor that does not work. What is the quickest way to get it working again? Is there a rebuild kit or an electric conversion kit for it? I don't really care if it's vacuum or not, just need some experienced advice.

Thanks.

Most all K's had electric wipers, but I believe vacuum was possible. So 1st question is are sure it is vacuum? The American Bosch motor looks similar to vacuum. They show up on Ebay or there is a guy here that rebuilds them.

Be very easy on the arm if it is the electric, don't force the arm to move or you can damage the motor, strip gears that are getting hard to come by.

Thanks again. I gave the windshield wiper arms just a little bit of pressure and they didn't move so I didn't force it.

I rebuild motors and all of the K and KB models had American Bosch 6 volt motors, but I have heard before that someone had a vacuum motor...maybe a replacement? I have some I sell and I also convert 6v to 12v for those who update their electrical to 12 volts. Anyone can contact me by email trailertrawler@gmail.com you can call 404 409 7441 or if you live in Locust Grove, Georgia holler out the back door. lol

Bob,

Mine is a six volt that has been bumped up to an eight volt. Will your motors tolerate that very well?

Thanks

Yes, not a problem since the 6 volt windings are very heavy. People have even run a 6 volt motor on 12 volts for short periods, but at 12 volts, they heat up fast and the windings don't last long for any kind of normal use.
