Serial/Model Number help

Hello All,

I recently bought another KB truck and it doesnt have a Vin plate on it like my KB11 has. All I can find is a little plate on the drivers side seat, that says model: HFA-65709

Its a 10 lug truck with bud wheel, 12ft bed length, and the fuel tank under the seat. It has an acient manure spreader on it manufactured less than 2 miles from me, which was pretty neat and seems to have been a local truck its whole life.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Re: Serial/Model Number help

Yea that plate is the cab plate and doesn't mean anything. Truck serial and rating plates were either on the drivers side "kick panel" ahead of the door (under the dash) or on the outside of the cab on the fire wall.
10 Lug Budd makes it a -8 or larger. Should have an RED of some size under the hood.
Look on the frame near the left front spring hanger for the serial number being stamped into the frame. It will start with the model and then the serial number itself.
They are most often faint and will require buffing of the frame to read after all these years.

Right on!

This one has the plate inside near the kick panel.
It reads KS-8-361 I believe.

Must be a KB8!

S designates 2 speed rear axle, if it just has a K and not KB in front of the S, it's a 1941-1946 K model

I don't know that it is a hard and fast rule, but the K I have, the tag is inside on the kick panel, the KB's have the data tag on the external firewall.

Return to K and KB
