Front brakes

I recently did the disc brake conversion on my 49 KB2. Is there a market for the old brakes? The drum face is slightly bent from when the hubs were removed, but the backing plates and brake shoes are in good condition. Let me know if they are needed, otherwise they are going to the scrap yard. Thanks!

So how did your conversion go? Any hic ups? Still running drum on the rear?

I did the conversion because my passenger front brake quit working. I figured it was a bad brake hose/wheel cylinder, and since parts are difficult to find I decided it was time for discs. I changed to a wilwood remote reservoir master cylinder (I still have the pedals though the floor) as well. I found a couple rust holes in my brake lines. The discs work great! I bought the kit from TSM and it was really easy to install.

You can find pads, drums and cylinders new. Unless you want to ebay and wait for the "must be original guy."

Re: Front brakes

Hang on to them if you can. I am pretty sure no one is reproducing the brake shoes. As far as I know everyone is getting the old ones re-lined. That's what I had to do. The drums are irreplaceable as well, maybe they can be turned back to round?

Yep. And you can buy drums new as well. I bought new drums and had pad re-lined and matched to drums.
