Good morning I am a long time car enthusiast and owner, but I recently picked up my first inter. A 1949 kb-1 in un-believable original condition. I note several serial numbers, 2 on the firewall plate and 1 at the base of the driver door frame. There is no serial number on the left side frame that I can find. Which is the number that belongs on the title? My title has a 6 digit serial number (106036) that I cant find anywhere on the truck. The title must be correct since this truck came out of 70 year ownership in the same family. Need help on this!

Check the engine serial number. Should be machined into the block along side the GRD214 engine model.

Yeah, many states "titled" off the engine serial number back in those days. The Chassie number will be stamped into the frame behind/around the left front spring hanger, it can be faint esp after all the years, but should be there.
Both my K titles use the engine serial for ID.

I found the GRD cast into the left side of the block. Don't see a machined serial number in that area. Is it above the GDR casting? Still not seeing any numbers on the left frame rail though

serial number is stamped in small letters at top of block above generator,
the inside cab number is just a cab model number,
the engine number is also stamped on the ID plate on the firewall,
Chassis number will tell you year built,
as stated, Many trucks were titled off engine serial number back then, which didn't make a lot of sense because engines could be replaced,

looks like yours was titled off chassis number, 1949 KB-1 production started in January with chassis number 93352, your number 106036 would make it the 12,684th truck produced in 49
there were 22,560 KB-1 made in 1948, so yours easily fits into 1949 production run,
if your ID plate doesn't match then it probably been replaced, sand lightly on frame rail, and clean it, number should show up, do not grind it, they are not stamped very deep at all,

Although the chassis numbers for the US are a great guide, I do not think that Canada quite matched our output, but I could be wrong. The US numbers will still give you a "close" guide. Just my thoughts.
