Now that is funny. I do not have any suggestions.

The ratio could be different. but could be the same as you had. The only issue I see is if it were lower ratio, IE slower. Go for that axle, the worst is that you would be going a little slower.

they asking if axle shaft (which is the part that broke) is the same in different ratio axles, and the answer is axle is the same in the different ratio axles that were in a KB-1

Oh man, I don't want it to be slower. Any chance it will be faster?

If I understand correctly, the axle shaft is what is broke, not the housing, then an axle shaft from another rear end should be able to replace the broken one. If the ratio in the axle you get is a better ratio, then use the whole thing. others can tell you how to determine the ratio on your original and the replacement. Just my muddled thoughts.

Yes just the axle shaft broke (and drum is in tough shape)

If anyone knows how to determine ratio I would be interested.

A member has a rear end for sale from another KB that has a ratio of 4:18-1.

Thank you all

Drop the driveshaft and look on the head of the pinion (inside the nut that hold the yoke on) for the tooth count. Should be expressed something like 10-41 (4.10 ratio)

Another way is to lift one wheel and turn it 2 revolutions while counting the driveshaft revolutions. The number of driveshaft revolutions is the ratio. Ie in your case the driveshaft revolutions would be a little over 4. (4.18)
