Removal Tool

I needed something to remove the heater cables and heater switch from the dash, so a took a piece of 1/2" aluminium drilled a clearance hole in the middle and four 1/16" on the same centers as the indentations as the nuts and pressed pins in the holes. Works great.

Re: Removal Tool

That's neat, looks easy 'nuff to make too.
More (and a bit larger) pic's of just the tool would be more useful to others.

Re: Removal Tool

I used to mill junk 1/4" drive deep sockets to a shape that could remove security screws. The OEM should have sent the adapter drivers and they were taking too long. I used some https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plasticine to make a shape to follow. The AH supervisor had taken my idea and four other tool ideas I made and submitted them to the company awards program. The five tools qualified $$ rewards. Here is the not so nice part. I had just retired and the supervisor presented my ideas as his own, collected and the reward for himself. BTW, the supervisor was on the selection committee. I only found out when one of the other mechanics made a complaint and then called me at home when the "poop hit the fan." I was given a gift certificate to a local steak house for two and an apology from the company.

Scottso,

The center hole is 7/16" diameter and the four 1/16" diameter holes are on .740 centers across from each other.

Re: Removal Tool

nikkinutshop,

That really sucks. If you are like me you don't mind helping other people out or sharing ideas but when someone else takes credit for it that pisses me off. And it probably was just for the money. Good people loose common sense when the $$ is involved. By the way I looked at the pics of your 40 Ford great looking job.

Re: Removal Tool

Thanks for the compliment. I like your ability to design a tool to fix a problem.
I wish the Ford was moving along at a better pace. I was delayed for a bit and lost the good weather. While the shop has good heat, the furnace struggles to maintain 15C.
